Mooloolaba’s free community event, Multicultural Moon Festival, will be jam-packed with fun activities, performances, raffles and fireworks. This year’s festival kicks off with the children’s painting contest and best dressed competition for all ages. Superstars in the Moonlight competition will be the highlight of the afternoon event. There will also be market stalls, food trucks and face painting.

Thelma Plum on tour 
Thelma Plum welcomes music lovers to The Meanjin Tour – supporting the EP of the same name, which was released on August 12. This is a collection of new songs from the heart about the heartland. The Meanjin Tour travels around the country in August and September with some very special guests: Jem Cassar-Daly and Graace.

Break Free album launch

Exotic cooking class
Spend a fun morning learning how to cook easy dishes from Turkey and Persia. It’s all about the spice. The classes are hands-on and participants will cook in pairs. Bring a friend or meet a new one to cook with on the day. Then, sit down and relax, eating the food that has been prepared and cooked throughout the morning. Check out the website for the menu.

Salty Saturdays Market
More than just a market, Salty Saturdays in Jack Morgan Park is an event for locals and visitors to come together and celebrate Coolum culture and community. Head to the beach for a salty swim and then take in the market day live music, free entertainment, food stalls and local artisans. Bring along family and friends for a fun afternoon in the park and enjoy the cool community vibe.

Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast
Mooloolaba offers the ideal location for the Qatar Airways Ironman 70.3 Sunshine Coast. This popular event comprises a 1.9km swim off beautiful Mooloolaba Beach, followed by a fast and furious 90km bike leg and a picture-perfect two-lap coastal run over 21.1km. The always hotly contested event will have 30 age-group qualifying slots for the 2023 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships to be held on August 26-27 in Lahti, Finland, next year.
When: Sunday, September 11, From 6am.

Open Garden Delight
Don’t miss the variety of flowering orchid plants on sale at the annual Heart Reach Australia Open Garden. Drop in for a coffee at Angels Café and enjoy one of the award-winning scones. There will also be a photo display, antique farm equipment, free-flight aviary, waterfalls, bridges and so much more to see at this award-winning garden. Money raised from this event will provide medical funding for children in Vietnam.

Fashion parade for the ages
The Inner Wheel Club of the Sunshine Coast is a service club for like-minded women who enjoy fun and friendship while supporting the community with fundraising activities. The club is holding a fundraising fashion parade from Cheryl Rose Homewares and Gifts, Caloundra, incorporating “Fashions Down the Ages” from members and friends. Members of the public are welcome to join in the festivities while enjoying a glass of bubbles on arrival and a high tea during the fashion parade.

Galapagos Duck
Many people remember jazz band Galapagos Duck from The Basement in Sydney many years ago, where they were an almost permanent fixture. Still going strong, they are returning to the Sunshine Coast to perform at Candelight Jazz Sessions. Galapagos Duck began in the late 60s and became the best known jazz band in the country and although the band members have changed, the direction of the band has always remained the same and that is to create a performance experience that is able to be appreciated and enjoyed by everybody.
