A Sunshine Coast business is among those getting behind a sizzling fundraising initiative.

Warana-based Your Mates Brewing will take part in the Snag a Donation campaign, created by liquor chainstore BWS.

BWS has asked Aussies to take photos of their barbecues from January 19-26 and they will donate $1 to charity for every snag seen in the picture.

“Aussies love nothing better than putting on a barbie in summer and thanks to our Snag a Donation campaign, you can help those in need by doing just that,” BWS Head of Marketing Vanessa Rowed said.

To take part in the BWS Snag a Donation campaign, customers upload a photo of their barbecue on Instagram, tag @BWS_au and use hashtag #snagadonation.

For every snag visible in the photo, BWS will donate $1 to not-for-profit donation platform GIVIT.

Local business Your Mates Brewing is ready to help charities with snags on the barbecue.

GIVIT connects donors and support organisations to make sure people and communities get what they need, when they need it.

“With requests for help almost doubling since the beginning of the pandemic, GIVIT is coordinating the donation of essential items to vulnerable people across Australia, thanks to the support of BWS customers,” GIVIT spokesperson Caroline Odgers said.

“One hundred percent of money raised through the Snag a Donation campaign will be used to purchase exactly what’s needed by the 4300-plus charities and community groups that GIVIT works with nationwide.”

Your Mates Brewing is ready to get among the action.

“We couldn’t think of a better way to help raise funds than to fire up the barbie on a lazy Sunday arvo,” business co-founder Matt Hepburn said.

“Our beer Larry goes well with any snag purchased from the local butcher.

“Don’t forget to pour a splash on the snags and onions as they’re cooking – you can thank me later.”
