A new development, featuring almost 250 apartments, is expected to provide fresh housing solutions to locals and sea-changers entering the market

Leading Sunshine Coast developer Cube Developments has purchased four “super lots” on Cardinal Place, adding another $100m to the company’s current Birtinya portfolio.

With the force of the housing affordability crisis gripping the local community, propelled by limited supply and southern migration, the 245-apartment project is expected to offer affordable options to locals and newcomers to the region.

The off-market transaction was brokered by Rem Rafter & Glen Grimish of CBRE and captures a combined site space of close to 9000 sqm.

Director of Cube Developments Scott Juniper expected the new site to relieve the pressure currently experienced in the Sunshine Coast housing market.

“Our commitment to the Sunshine Coast is resolute and has culminated in a site where we can rapidly cater to the strong demand that we’re experiencing,” he said.

“For us, Birtinya was the perfect location – it’s one of the fastest growing suburbs on the coast and the site itself is nestled in the Birtinya Business Village, adjacent from the Town Centre and of course benefitting from stunning Lake Kawana with its waterfront vantage.

“The property is just 20 minutes from Maroochydore and Caloundra, 30 minutes from the Sunshine Coast Airport and just over an hour to land you in Brisbane CBD.”

Cardinal Place will join a cluster of other Birtinya projects in the developer’s portfolio totalling $265 million for the area alone. That includes Seasons by Cube, a three-tower, 146-apartment project in its second stage release, 50 sold-out lakeside residences at One Prosperity and the completed, 55-dwelling Curve project.

Cube has recently delivered Beach Life at Alexandra Headland project Beach Life, which settled at the start of this year and its boutique Mooloolaba project Picasso is due for completion by mid next year.
