The interior design style may be inspired by uber-chic Scandinavia but the panorama is all Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The first look inside new luxury cabin Scandi at Maleny highlights the calibre of the region’s luxury boutique accommodation.

Scandi at Maleny boutique accommodation is stunning inside and out.

Located just 12 minutes outside Maleny township, the two-bedroom, two-bathroom modular cabin offers dramatic views across the volcanic landscape and lush green valleys.

Inside, cool, crisp Scandinavian simplicity rules. Outside, the spectacular natural surrounds take centre stage.

Owners Pete Coorey and Dee Montalva said that from the outset, a huge focus for Scandi at Maleny was sustainability, and they had taken great care to minimise their environmental footprint.

“Scandi is a modular build, and this alone makes our cabin more sustainable from the get go,” Dee said.

Creating the modular design of the Scandinavian-inspired luxury cabin.

The cabin itself was designed to “engineering perfection” and constructed off-site, ensuring quality control, fewer building materials needed and less waste.

Scandi was trucked to the site in four separate pieces, before being placed in its final position on an elevated escarpment that offers uninterrupted views of the valley below.

But visitors will appreciate the attention to detail once they step inside. Thoughtful touches include a stocked pantry showcasing local products to elevate the stay at this adults-only escape.

Inside, the focus on sustainability continues, with the cabin operating off rainwater only, and using a self-recycling septic system with the treated water also maintaining the gardens.

Guests will find more local products in the bathroom from Maleny-based natural beauty company Mukti, as well as reusable make up wipes guests can take home.

“Every item in the cabin was considered in regards to where it was made and where it came from, favouring local products and suppliers where possible with extra points for environmentally-friendly aware brands,” Dee said.

Inside the cabin, Dee’s background as a wedding stylist is evident, with beautifully appointed Scandinavian-inspired touches throughout.

Features of the property include an indoor fireplace for chilly hinterland nights, fully equipped kitchen and outdoor barbecue.

Dee said their goal was to create a space where guests could enjoy the cabin as if it were their own home.

“We want our cabin to be a place for guests to disconnect so they can reconnect, to sleep deeply with no alarms, and to have uninterrupted conversations with their favourite person,” Dee said.

“We want them to forget about the to-do lists and schedules, and simply be in the moment.”

Prices for Scandi at Maleny start from $500 per night, with a two-night minimum stay.
