Emily Maguire’s hinterland tour

Acclaimed singer-songwriter and poet Emily Maguire (pictured above) is touring the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Emily is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist and composer and contemporary folk artist who has toured Europe extensively with American legends Don McLean, Dr Hook and Eric Bibb. Open about her struggles with bipolar disorder, Emily’s experience of mental health recovery and her practice of Buddhist meditation over the past 20 years have strongly influenced her song writing. With a hauntingly beautiful voice and songs ‘bathed in raw, emotional power’ (Guitarist Magazine), Emily’s live show is a moving and thought-provoking experience not to be missed. Featuring renowned local string players, sisters Sarah and Louise King, and Emily’s husband Christian Dunham on bass.

Art Workz — Art for Everyone

ArtWorkz, hosted in celebration of Disability Action Week, aims to raise awareness and acknowledge the important and varied contributions people living with a disability make within our community. ArtWorkz is an accessible show for artists to display their work and give a deeper insight into how art works for them, and the positive impact it has made on their lives.

Art of Podcasting

Calling all artists, authors, musicians, storytellers, performers, poets, creative producers and content creators who want to develop their own podcasts. These workshops will look at research and delivery; what makes a popular podcast, interviewing techniques, finding a story or topic and creating engaging content, production, mics and sound, what gear is needed, understanding sound including capturing atmosphere, and post-production, editing and hosting and more. You will gain an understanding of the basics of podcasts production and a greater awareness of identifying what makes great audio content.

Regional Disability Expo Sunshine Coast

The Currimundi Twilight Markets are a local favourite on the southern end of the Coast. Popping up on the scenic foreshore of Currimundi Lake, this new event is an intimate affair of 12 unique food stalls, a Your Mates bar and an entertainment area with live local music. We suggest packing your own picnic blanket for all the eating and lazing you’ll be doing, plus your swimsuit or boardies for a sunset swim in the lake. Now that’s one chilled out way to wrap up the week.

Stand-Up Comedy Monthly at Moffs

It’s another epic stand-up comedy showdown coming your way. The September line-up stars headline act Greg Sullivan, a veteran of the Australian comedy scene. Greg has appeared at every major club in the country, plus a few big ones overseas including The LA Improv. He’s an award winner, a regular on the festival circuit including nine years in a row at Woodford. Support acts include James McCann, a fearless high energy comedy madman from Adelaide plus Michael Shafar, a fast-rising, former international comedy traveller from Melbourne, and more.
