Rain has been scarce during the past couple of months, but Sunshine Coast lawns and gardens may benefit from some showers in coming days.
Just 7mm has fallen at the airport in the past 50 days, which is not even close to the average rainfall total for June (119mm).
And with the traditionally driest months to come – from July until September – it looks particularly ominous.

“The Sunshine Coast is going to have a chance of rainfall, picking up on Friday with 0-6mm, but Saturday is looking like the day with 5-15mm.
“That will definitely be some welcome rainfall at this time of year.”
There have been some light showers around during the past few weeks – Double Island Point received 18mm on Tuesday morning – but large parts of the region have missed out.
“There has been a bit of rainfall, thanks to some which moved through last week, but it’s significantly less than what we were getting in the wet season,” Ms Hoff said.

Temperatures should remain between about 12C to 21C until Sunday, when the minimum should drop to single figures once again.
Surf conditions appear steady with 1-1.5m waves, water temperatures are hovering around 21C, with just light winds predicted for the rest of the week.
Meanwhile, the Winter Solstice was on Monday, when we saw sunlight for just 10hr24min18sec.
