A global fast food juggernaut is set to open another new restaurant on the Sunshine Coast.

McDonald’s will open the doors to its newest diner, at Baringa, on Wednesday, November 23.

It’s bound to be a popular destination in a booming suburb that is part of Australia’s largest masterplanned community, Aura.

McDonald’s said its latest restaurant is set to create 140 jobs and inject more than $5 million into the local economy.

It’s fitted with modern décor and features a McCafé, PlayPlace, dual lane drive-thru and dedicated partner delivery room.

The new Macca’s is set to create 140 jobs.

The new restaurant is owned and operated by licensee Tim Banks, who employs more than 900 members of the community at six restaurants on the Sunshine Coast.

“We are excited to open McDonald’s Baringa and provide new jobs, training and development opportunities for the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Banks said via a press release.

“I’ve been operating McDonald’s restaurants in the area for around 26 years, and love being part of and giving back to this incredible community.

“I look forward to welcoming customers through the doors this week. I’ve met some excited people who are waiting for those arches to light up.”

McDonald’s is hiring a variety of crew, barista, management and maintenance roles in restaurants across the Sunshine Coast. For more information, or to apply for a role, see McDonald’s careers.

Mr Banks is a proud supporter of the Mudjimba Charity Swim, Sunshine Coast Cricket, Sunshine Coast Falcons, Sunshine Coast Football and Sunshine Coast Marathon.

He also regularly volunteers his time and restaurants to fundraise for Ronald McDonald House Charities, a cause he is particularly passionate about as a member of the RMHC Board of Directors.

“RMHC provides critical support for many Sunshine Coast families travelling to hospitals with their seriously ill or injured children,” he said.

“We’re proud to support them in any way we can, to ensure families can access programs such as the Ronald McDonald Houses, Family Rooms, Family Getaways and the National Learning Program.

“Our Baringa restaurant will proudly join that fundraising network, from day one.”

Mr Banks’ other passion is providing training and development opportunities to support careers in McDonald’s and beyond.

“McDonald’s invests millions into training and development initiatives each year, offering award-winning certifications in the retail, food service and hospitality sectors,” he said.

“We are passionate about supporting the professional development of our people and providing workplace skills applicable to any career.”
