Strong demand is keeping a Sunshine Coast gin distiller on the hop, ensuring another new tasty creation for the product lineup.

The award-winning Beachtree Distilling Co. at Caloundra West has launched its new native Australian gin, Skippy Gin, with the Eastern Grey kangaroo as its mascot.

Each small-batch product released by Beachtree is a “love letter to the country” and this one is no exception.

And in exciting news, Skippy Gin has just won double gold at the New York World Spirit Competition: the only company in Queensland to win a medal.

Beachtree founder and master distiller Steve Grace and his partner and business manager Kirra Daley describe Skippy Gin as “a marriage of the best native botanical bush tucker that Australia has to offer, blossoming on the tongue and warming its way down”.

“Full of character, this gin evokes the grounded feeling of being out in the bush surrounded by flora and fauna,” they said.

“It boasts flavour profiles of native strawberry gum, lemon myrtle, finger lime, wattleseed, kakadu plum and pepperberries.

“This smooth, velvety spirit has a pure and clean flavour, with tons of sharp and subtle notes for your tastebuds to meet.”

This new gin pairs well with simple tonics and soda, adding to the rich “earthy” flavours, or is ideal for sipping and enjoying on its own.

Certified gluten, sugar and preservative free, it aims to fill in those spaces with flavour instead.

Skippy Gin is now available for purchases online through the Beachtree website.

It joins two other award-winning gins, Organic Koala and Organic Quokka, and Tiger Quoll vodka on the roster.

With each purchase of this new addition, Steve and Kirra vow to plant a tree in your name.

Beachtree Distilling Co. is a proudly First Nations company that has only been distilling since about June 2021 and opened its doors in an Industrial Avenue shed in August last year.

But its signature Quokka Gin was named Australia’s best contemporary gin – less than six months into commercial production.

Steve and Kirra take a holistic approach to their craft, prioritising Australian botanicals and honouring ancestors.

Each product is intentional and handcrafted with care at every step, made into small batches right at the home distillery.

They use only ethical and sustainable ingredients, including organic sugarcane and purified rainwater to ferment and distill their gins and vodkas to perfection.
