She is not even out of school, but Sunshine Coast teenager Chloe Childs is already making a name for herself in the modelling world.

The 17-year-old is a finalist in the Top Model Australia model search competition, which travels the country to find the up-and-coming faces of the industry.

The competition is the biggest event of the Top Model season, where aspiring models have the chance to launch their international careers.

Chloe will participate in the national finals runway event in Melbourne on July 10 and the winner to go on to compete in London and walk London Fashion Week in September.

Chloe is in the Top Model Australia model search competition.

With a passion for modelling for as long as she can remember, Chloe began doing work with local photographers and brands in between her busy school schedule.

The Year 12 student at St Andrew’s Anglican College told Sunshine Coast News that Top Model Australia contacted her in late 2021 to enter the competition.

She said she was excited to embrace the journey, to kickstart a professional modelling career.

Top Model Australia contacted Chloe last year to enter the competition.

“I’ve always had a passion to model from a young age,” Chloe said. It is definitely an opportunity of a lifetime.

“It would be incredible and life changing to go to London. It would set me up on a path in the modelling industry and it would just be a dream come true.”

Between now and the finals event, Chloe is spending as much time as possible in front of the camera and practising her runway walk.

“It is very nerve-racking to step out and walk in front of a crowd of people but I try and be myself and be confident and have a good time. At the end of the day, it is a bit of fun.”

As part of the competition, Top Model Australia has partnered with Bully Zero to help each contestant become ambassadors within their schools and community groups.

Chole has also taken school studies into her stride as she prepares for her final months of Year 12.

Studying art, photography and geography, one of her recent assignments has also helped implement change with Sunshine Coast Council to save the endangered Wallum sedge frog in the environment around her school.

“We had to suggest a proposal for our school and work with our school board about how to stop the pollution and invasive weeds growing to protect and mitigate these issues so the frogs have somewhere to live.”

With a love of fitness – including strength and high-intensity interval training – and climbing mountains, Chloe also had her sights set on helping others on their fitness journey.

“I am currently studying my certificate four in fitness. I love everything about fitness and health and healthy young women.”
