A local, who is passionate about the future of our region, will lead the development of the Maroochydore CBD.

Amanda Yeates has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of SunCentral Maroochydore, which was established by Sunshine Coast Council in 2015 to oversee the design and delivery of a new city centre.

The company’s inaugural CEO John Knaggs announced he would stand down in early April, as the CBD started to take shape.

Ms Yeates is presently the Deputy Director General at the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads, where she leads the management of the department’s $5b annual capital works program and a workforce of more than 3500 staff.

Company chair Morgan Parker said Ms Yeates possessed an outstanding pedigree as a business leader, strategist and stakeholder manager.

“The board was delighted with the quality of the applicants for this key role steering one of Australia’s most significant urban master developments,” he said.

“Amanda is incredibly impressive and highly regarded across government, industry and community groups.

“Her capabilities shone through in what was a very competitive recruitment process.

“Amanda is also a Sunshine Coast local, so she has seen first-hand the remarkable progress the City Centre has made over the last few years.

“She is inherently passionate about the future of the region and is determined to create a lasting legacy for future generations.

“Amanda will be a great fit in her new role, with the team at SunCentral, and our key partners Walker Corporation and Sunshine Coast Council all looking forward to working with her closely.”
