Organisers are ecstatic with the success of the GABS Festival Summer Tour event held at Lake Kawana on Saturday.
They told sunshinecoastnews.com.au that about 5000 beer, cider, wine, champagne and food lovers turned out for the event over two sessions.
GABS Director Mike Bray said crowds were very well mannered and the feedback had been immensely positive about the experience, the big range of beers and cider and the many activities to enjoy on the Lake Kawana foreshore.
Mr Bray thanked the State Government, Sunshine Coast Council and local Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie for their support, which had allowed the festival to come to the Coast.
“It will now become an annual event. We really thank the 70-plus local businesses and suppliers who rallied within six weeks to be involved and the excited punters who came out in support,” Mr Bray said.
Steve Barber, Brewer at Black Flag said the day was well attended and had provided one of the biggest chances to share their new beers and exclusively-made fruity beers after a challenging 2020 due to COVID.
“We really wanted to show beer lovers our range and our skills and the excellent feedback from craft beer fans on Saturday was really heartening … we know we are getting it right,” he said.
The GABS Beer Festival Summer Tour now moves to the Gold Coast with the next event to be held at the Broadwater Parklands on Saturday, January 9.
