Two milestone projects have broken ground in the Stockland Aura Business Park with construction commencing on the estate’s first McDonald’s and a Sunshine Mitre 10.

Sunshine Mitre 10 is the first tenant within Aura’s new trade and construction precinct at Aura Business Park.

This bespoke precinct, positioned alongside the Bells Creek Arterial Road, will be a one-stop shop for tradespeople and residents.

The new McDonald’s restaurant is anticipated to open in late September and will feature a McCafé, dual lane drive through, dedicated partner delivery room and a PlayPlace for families.

The restaurant will employ more than 100 people during construction, as well as an additional 120 people once operational and is projected to inject over $5 million into the local economy.

Aura Business Park opened in 2018 and is already home to more than 50 businesses.

With industrial land on the Coast in short supply, it is continuing to attract high-profile brands to the precinct.

Construction is continuing on the second stage of the Kennards Storage and Stockland has announced plans for a service station to open within the next three years.

Matthew Byrne, Senior Economic Development Manager at Stockland, said the high calibre of brands investing in Aura Business Park showed the highly sought-after development was hitting the mark.

“Aura is a next generation urban community, carefully designed to seamlessly connect business hubs with the thriving community surrounding them.

“We’re positioned in the heart of the largest investment zone in the region, close to key infrastructure.

“From prospering home-based businesses to the booming Aura Business Park and Baringa Town Centre, it is the place to be for businesses on the Sunshine Coast,” Mr Byrne said.

“More broadly for the community, having two established brands such as McDonald’s and Mitre 10 open their doors will provide great employment opportunities, helping us continue to deliver on our ambition to become a city where people live, work and play.

“I love the idea of teens living in Aura, going to school in Aura and getting their first job in the Aura Business Park.”

Sunshine Mitre 10 General Manager Neil Hutchins said the new construction precinct provided a unique opportunity for the brand.

“The Aura store will be our eighth site on the Sunshine Coast, and part of a steadily expanding network across Queensland, employing more than 400 staff,” Mr Hutchins said.

“Aura is a thriving hub of construction with thousands of homes being built over the next twenty years, we know there will be a huge appetite from tradespeople, owner builders and homeowners alike. Settling in Aura fits with our focus on supporting community initiatives and sporting organisations in the towns in which we operate.”

McDonald’s Head of Property (QLD) Andrew Swaney said every McDonald’s restaurant was committed to supporting the community within the area it operated through job creation, economic investment, and training and development opportunities.

“We are proud to be part of the rapidly growing Aura Business Park and provide members of the local community with outstanding employment and training opportunities, as well as our great-tasting food,” he said.

Surrounded by an active residential community, Aura Business Park is expected to generate 20,000 new jobs.

Upon completion, Aura Business Park will be home to 200 businesses ranging from light industry and manufacturing, bulky goods and showrooms, commercial office space, storage and warehousing, research and development, and indoor sports and recreation.

The city of Aura is planned to include two business parks, 10 sporting grounds, 25 community facilities, 20 educational facilities, and 700 hectares of conservation areas and parkland.
