The Protector Aluminium team hit the floor in support of mental health awareness.

A team of 13 from the Sunshine Coast business, recorded 17,180 push-ups, during 25 days, to fundraise $1685.

The business matched its worker’s efforts dollar for dollar, bringing the total raised to $3650.

The Push Up Challenge is Australia’s largest fitness-based mental health event, which raises money for Lifeline, Headspace & the Push for Better Foundation.

This money helps support people living with mental illness and shines a spotlight on the number of lives lost to suicide each year.

This event promotes open conversations about mental health and wellbeing.

Team members notch up some more push-ups.

With the government’s recent historic budget commitment on the National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Plan, and after an increase of stress and anxiety over COVID lockdowns, attention is now on mental health.

Initiatives like the Push Up Challenge shine the spotlight on mental health and suicides, and encourage physical exercise, which scientific evidence has proved to provide anti-depressant benefits to mental health.

“Protector Aluminium are focused on protecting the life and lifestyle of our communities and are proud to be part of the challenge to raise awareness and needed funds,” a spokesperson said.

“It has been a blast to be a part of this challenge.”

There is still time to donate, with funds still able to be raised until late July 2021.
