A Sunshine Coast company is pushing into overseas markets with technology designed to improve freight efficiency.
Airtec Corporation is best known for its digital tyre inflation systems and has expanded its offering with SmartOBM, an on-board mass monitoring system for heavy vehicles.
The technology uses wireless sensors to measure how much weight is being carried and help operators manage payloads.
Chief executive David Hewett said the company was using support from Trade and Investment Queensland to pursue more opportunities overseas.
“When you’ve got a flat tyre and you head to the service station to re-inflate, chances are you’re using one of our products,” he said.
“Our expansion into on-vehicle mass sensors marks the beginning of our journey into global markets, including Europe and the United States.
“We followed TIQ’s roadmap to go global. We secured certifications, approvals and invested in local regions before advancing to the next level.
“Now, we have opportunities in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and the United States.”
TIQ, a state government initiative, helps Queensland businesses export overseas and enter new markets, including support with market research, overseas contacts, trade missions, regulatory requirements and certification pathways.
Airtech Corporation’s smart on board mass headquarters is at Noosaville, while its digital tyre inflation headquarters is in Adelaide.
