A teenage girl has been charged with armed robbery after an alleged confrontation with staff at a Sunshine Coast retail hub.
Police were called to a shopping centre on Ocean Street at Maroochydore just before 8pm on Monday, following reports a girl had stolen items from a business.
Police allege the girl threatened an employee with a knife when confronted and lunged at a security guard before walking away with the items.
A 17-year-old Sippy Downs girl was taken into custody at Cotton Tree a short time later.
Police said stolen items and a knife were found nearby.
No one was injured during the incident.
The girl has been charged with one count each of entering premises and committing an indictable offence, armed robbery, common assault, threats and possessing a knife in a public place.
Police said she was scheduled to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
