A new Mediterranean-inspired beach bar has opened on the Sunshine Coast, with a trio of hospitality professionals joining forces to launch the venue.

Olas Beach House has transformed the former Hathi Indian Restaurant site at 15/140-144 Alexandra Parade, Alexandra Headland.

The business is operated by front-of-house managers Thomas Ring and Jack Quinn, alongside head chef Angelo Puelma.

“Each of us are veterans of hospitality, with a combined total of almost 50 years in the industry,” Mr Ring said.

“We are passionate about our craft and absolutely love creating memorable experiences for our guests, be it through the food, beverages, service, atmosphere, or a combination of each.”

The restaurant showcases local seasonal produce and traditional techniques, with breakfast, lunch and dinner available from Tuesday to Sunday.

With an open layout and spacious venue, the team said creating a space that reflected the Alexandra Headland lifestyle was central to the venue’s design.

“Ocean views, refreshing sea breezes and the sun-kissed, laid-back beach life were all at the forefront of our minds as we were discussing what we wanted the space to become,” Mr Quinn said.

“Olas is Spanish for waves which really helps encapsulate that vibe we were after.”

Mr Puelma said the menu features modern Australian cuisine with a Mediterranean twist.

“Signature items would have to include our Crocodile Spring Rolls, King Prawn Cracker, Lamb Baguette and of course the Parmy Lux,” he said.

Mr Puelma said the response from the local community since opening had been outstanding.

“Locals have been raving to other locals and the number of Olas converts continues to grow,” he said.

“We are beyond thankful to everyone whose shown their support for us here at Olas Beach House, and we look forward to welcoming many more over the coming months and years.”
