A 17-year-old P-plater has been pulled over by police, allegedly travelling 189km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Police detected the vehicle during routine patrols on the Sunshine Motorway at Mountain Creek, just after midnight on Friday, January 31.
They intercepted the driver shortly after.
The driver was issued a $1854 infringement for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h, which is the highest category of speeding offence in Queensland, along with a 6-month licence suspension and 8 demerit points.
He also received additional infringements for a defective vehicle ($322) and failing to display P-plates ($267).
“(You were) 89km an hour over the speed limit. What could go wrong you reckon?” police asked the driver.
“You’re 17 (with) your whole life ahead of you …you need to go home and have a long look at yourself.
“I’d bet my last dollar that your mum will sit in bed crying when you tell her how quick you’ve gone.
“You’re going to lose your licence for a long period of time.”

The Queensland Police Service issued a media release urging motorists to be obey speed limits.
“Police would like to remind road users that factors such as speeding have a direct consequence on your safety and those around you,” it said.
“The incident serves as a reminder that safer roads start with you. Every decision you make behind the wheel matters.”
Police also stated that patrols are “ongoing … across the Sunshine Coast at all hours”.
