New police have officers have been deployed to stations around Queensland, including the Sunshine Coast.

Seventy-nine new officers have been sworn into the Queensland Police Service as part of the first graduating cohort of 2026, with 56 men and 23 women to strengthen policing capacity in 13 districts.

Three of them will be based on the Sunshine Coast: two at Maroochydore and one at Beerwah.

The total cohort includes recruits aged 18 to 50 from all over the world, with previous careers in defence, health, engineering, trades, hospitality and customer service.

Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said the graduation followed a breakout year of recruitment in 2025.
