A popular Sunshine Coast coffee van has officially opened a permanent base in Maroochydore after years of serving locals from markets and events.

Little Bakehouse SC began trading this month at the Plaza Business Centre on the corner of Evans Street and Millwell Road, marking a major milestone for founders Kimberley Smith and Brooke Anderson.

The pair officially launched Little Bakehouse in 2021, though the idea dates back much further.

“It all started one evening in a backyard, with a couple of wines and lots of laughs,” Ms Smith said.

“Our shared passion for baking and creating delicious treats made the idea of starting a business together feel like a natural next step.”

Ms Smith brings 15 years of experience baking cakes and specialty sweets, while Ms Anderson has spent 20 years working across cafes, bars and restaurants.

Little Bakehouse SC is now open at the Plaza Business Centre in Maroochydore.

“We’ve been part of the Aura Farmers Markets for around 1.5 years,” Ms Smith said.

“The markets are currently on a short hiatus, but we’re really excited to be heading back there hopefully sometime later this year.”

The new Maroochydore location allows the duo to showcase a menu built around quality coffee and locally sourced ingredients.

“We specialise in quality specialty coffee and are genuinely passionate about what we serve,” Ms Smith said.

“Brooke and I actually have very different tastes in coffee, and our beans suit us both perfectly – which really shows just how versatile they truly are.”

Their chai has also become a customer favourite, alongside their signature thick cookies.

Their signature thick cookies have been a big hit.

“Supporting local is incredibly important to us, which is why we chose a local roasterie, Sunshine Coast Coffee Roasterie and we use high-quality local ingredients such as Maleny Dairies milk,” Ms Smith said.

Little Bakehouse SC officially opened in January with early feedback from the community described as overwhelmingly positive.

“The response from the community has been absolutely lovely,” Ms Smith said.

“Everyone has been so supportive. We’re still in the early stages, but right now we feel incredibly lucky and are excited to continue growing.”

The pair say the new space is just the beginning.

“We have so many exciting things on our vision board. One of our biggest goals is to open a café space – or maybe even two,” Ms Smith said.

“We love having a chat, so come down, say hello, and grab a coffee.”
