A Sunshine Coast builder has received the Australian residential building industry’s highest accolade for an architecturally designed hinterland home.

Jager Build took out top gong at Master Builders Australia’s National Excellence in Building and Construction Awards 2025, being named named National Residential Master Builder of the Year.

It also won the Toyota National Contract Home Award – Over $6 million for Horseshoe Hill.

The home’s signature horseshoe-shaped curve is counterbalanced by clean linear elements making the design sympathetic to its hilltop setting at Bald Knob.

Master Builders Australia said it showcased “a mastery of both traditional and modern construction techniques, the uniquely shaped family home celebrates a harmonious blend of innovative design and technical expertise”.

Jager Build said in a statement: “This residence stands as a testament to the possibilities of residential architecture when innovative design, technical expertise, meticulous craftsmanship, and sensitivity to place are unified in pursuit of excellence.”

Privately owned Sunshine Coast builder RCQ was recognised with the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner National Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety Award for its mental health initiative, and family-owned Coast builder SX Homes received the Master Builders Insurance Brokers National Contract Home Award – $600,000 to $800,000 for The Waterhen.

Overall Queensland builders took 15 of the 51 award categories.

“I am incredibly proud of all our Queensland winners. Achieving this level of success is no mean feat – and our state laying claim to Residential Master Builder of the Year for a second consecutive time, plus Construction Master Builder of the Year, cements the elite level of talent we call our own,” Master Builders deputy CEO Sue-Ann Fresneda said.

“From workplace health and safety to renovations, multi-residential projects and homes of every size, these awards celebrate the skill and versatility of Queensland builders.

“Our industry is ready to deliver on a once-in-a-generation pipeline of work – and with the right policy settings, there’s nothing we can’t achieve.”
