A “game changing” heavy-duty mid-size ute has just landed in Australia, with Sunshine Coast buyers among the first in the country able to see and test drive it.

The first-ever Ford Ranger Super Duty — a landmark expansion of the Ford Ranger lineup—is now on display at Pacific Ford, part of the Pacific Motor Group, across its Maroochydore, Caloundra and Noosaville dealerships.

Drawing on more than a century of Ford’s Australian heritage and engineered specifically for the nation’s demanding conditions, this vehicle brings American-style capability to the mid-size ute segment for the first time.

The “Super Duty” badge, long reserved for the most capable F-Series trucks in the United States, has never before been applied to a Ranger platform — until now.

Pacific Ford reports strong early interest from fleet operators, emergency services, agricultural businesses and serious towing customers who are seeking a vehicle that pushes beyond traditional ute capability without needing to step into a full-size imported truck.

Alister Eiseman, general manager of Pacific Motor Group Maroochydore, said the arrival of the Super Duty filled a long-standing gap in the local market.

“The Sunshine Coast is ute country, and our customers have been asking for a vehicle that bridges the gap between the standard Ranger and a full-size truck,” Mr Eiseman said.

“The Ranger Super Duty is that answer. Whether you’re towing a large caravan up the range or running a heavy fleet daily, this vehicle offers factory-backed capability that previously required expensive aftermarket modifications.

“We are thrilled to bring this level of ‘Built Ford Tough’ to our local community.”

This next generation ute has 4,500kg braked towing capacity, which is ideal for heavy machinery, caravans, horse floats and large offshore boats. Additionally, it has 4,500kg GVM and 8,000kg GCM, which provides significant payload and towing combinations while maintaining compliance for commercial use; and reinforced underpinnings including a strengthened chassis, heavy-duty suspension, 18-inch 8-lug wheels and all-terrain tyres. The specially tuned 3.0L V6 turbo diesel delivers 154kW and 600Nm and is calibrated for continuous heavy-load performance.

“Far more than a cosmetic upgrade, the Super Duty represents a ground-up re-engineering of the Ranger platform, offering capability that previously required aftermarket modifications or a jump to full-size trucks like the F-250,” Mr Eisman said.

“This is a one-of-a-kind vehicle with 8T GCM and 4.5T towing all in a car that you can park in a shopping centre car park.”

Pacific Ford is now accepting orders from businesses and private buyers looking to secure their allocation of this anticipated Ford Ranger model.
