A 23-hectare hinterland property with two private waterfalls has been listed for sale, with a price tag of $7 million.

The five-bedroom, five-bathroom property known as Waterfall Retreat is located at 55 Trail Road, Maleny.

Agents Allister Millican and Justin Smith from Ray White Maleny listed the spectacular property, which is 2km from the heart of Maleny.

Mr Millican said there was an increase in buyer demand for acreage properties and Waterfall Retreat was “far more than a home”.

“I can’t think of any other properties in Australia where you can live next to two waterfalls,” Mr Millican said.

The main residence is poised over a 30m cascade. Described by the agency as “a rare feat of design”, it allows the sound, movement and cool air of the falls to be a constant sensory backdrop to everyday life.

No.55 Trail Road is perched over a cascading waterfall.

The principal residence draws inspiration from the famous Fallingwater, which was designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935 and is renowned as an iconic example of 20th century architecture.

Waterfall Retreat owners Matt Kelman and Maja Edwards said the home was warm during winter due to its floor heating.

“This is just a beautiful place to stop and relax and soak up the surroundings,” Mr Kelman said.

Ms Edwards said: “It’s soothing, especially waking up in the bedroom upstairs and overlooking the waterfall.”

A separate fully self-contained studio is positioned for privacy and flexibility, equally suited for guests, extended family, a home office or an artist’s retreat.

The property is described as “both beautiful and functional”, and could be used for grazing livestock or equestrian pursuits with select paddocks, which are well sheltered by established tree lines and sustained by permanent water.

Expansive lawns sweep towards rainforest edges and distant ridgelines can be viewed from the property’s elevated plateaus.

Waterfall Retreat at Maleny has two private waterfalls.

A private network of trails leads to natural swimming holes, shaded rock pools and waterfalls.

The owners purchased the property in 2019 and are looking for a bigger property to run cattle.
