Australia’s largest master-planned community has opened its newest park.

Hilltop Park in Aura’s new Acacia precinct features a play structure atop a two-metre-high mound with climbing nets and an embankment slide, a large bird’s nest swing, half-court basketball area, lawns and picnic spots.

The 6000sqm area is located on Windward Promenade, Banya, and is part of the broader Caloundra South development by Stockland.

Set against the backdrop of the Bells Creek South Conservation Area, nature is central to the design of the residential precinct, offering easy access to the surrounding parklands and Aura’s network of more than 200km of walking and bike paths on completion.

Stockland senior development manager Genaea Keith said the addition of a community-centric gathering space for all ages was “exciting news for Aura and the broader community”.

“Parks and green spaces play a vital role in Aura’s daily community life and are a core part of our vision, so we’re proud to officially introduce Hilltop Park offering families a welcoming outdoor space to gather, play and get to know their extended community,” Ms Keith said.

The architect team behind the Hilltop Park design said the dynamic outdoor space was designed to be inclusive and engaging for the entire community.

“We wanted to create a space where everyone feels welcome, no matter their age or interests,” Place Design Group associate landscape architect Kenneth Harris said.

“At Hilltop Park kids can climb, explore and let their imaginations run wild, while also offering areas for families and neighbours to relax and connect.

“The dedicated basketball zone and expansive lawns provide opportunities for teenagers to socialise, be active and feel a sense of ownership over the space.

“Our aim was to create a park that supports positive youth development while encouraging connection across the whole community.”

Ms Keith said parks were key drivers of liveability in Stockland communities such as Aura.

“With 29 parks and playgrounds now open, we’re continuing to deliver on our commitment to provide green spaces within easy reach for all those who live here, with every Aura home within 400 metres of a park.”

The opening of Hilltop Park follows the recent openings of Mulberry Park and Glider Park, marking three new parks for Aura in the past month as Stockland continues to deliver on its vision of accessible green spaces within easy reach of every home.
