A $9 million deal for a penthouse has set a record for apartments in a prized area of the Sunshine Coast.

The Lorient Penthouse at 801/88 Duporth Avenue was sold to a local business identity after it attracted 80 inquiries, 49 private inspections, five expressions of interest and four written offers.

The residence boasts a house-sized floor plan with expansive living zones, refined finishes and sweeping river-to-ocean aspects.

Ray White Maroochydore principal Dan Sowden said luxury apartments were in vogue.

“This sale sets a new benchmark for Maroochydore and underscores the depth of demand for irreplaceable, owner-occupier apartments on the Sunshine Coast,” he said.

“When a property combines true scarcity with genuine scale and craftsmanship, the market recognises it and competes decisively.”

Agent Niall Molloy said the penthouse drew a wave of prospective buyers.

“We even received calls from buyers who simply saw us at this tightly held building (Lorient by Mosaic) and asked if we had an apartment coming to market,” he said.

“Demand for properties of this calibre is extraordinarily strong and growing.”
