Travel the world without boarding a flight at a vibrant festival celebrating multiculturalism on the Coast.
Buderim Village Park is set to come alive with the sights, sounds and flavours of the world on Saturday, August 30, with the Festuri Multicultural Music and Dance Festival.
The festival has been a cornerstone of Coast cultural life since 1999 and for the first time this year it will be held in Buderim.
Originally scheduled for August 9, the much-anticipated event was postponed due to forecasts of heavy rain and cold weather. Organisers said the call — while difficult — was the right one.
“Postponing is never easy, especially when we have international artists involved and a whole community waiting for the event. But our aim is to give everyone the best possible experience and Buderim deserves a sunny, vibrant celebration,” they said.
Dubbed as “one trip to see the world”, the festival will showcase a vibrant lineup of Colombian and Mexican dancers, Afro-Caribbean fusion artists, reggae and blues bands, PNG vocalists and a special Indigenous Welcome to Country.
Artistic director Dominique Cisse said Festuri was all about connection.
“Festuri has always been about bringing people together,” she said.
“For me, it’s that magical mix of music, food and friendship that makes the Sunshine Coast such a special place.
“It’s not just about watching performances – it’s about joining in, having a dance, trying new flavours and meeting people from all over the world right here in our own backyard.”

There will be a cultural fashion parade and visitors are encouraged to wear traditional dress or bold, creative attire. The kids’ festival area will have activities such as face painting, fibre weaving and a drum circle. Entry will by donation this year, making the event even more accessible for families.
“This year in Buderim Village Park you can expect a feast for the senses – vibrant live music and dance, hands-on cultural workshops, mouth-watering international food and colourful market stalls,” she said.
“It’s like travelling the world in a single day … without having to pack a suitcase.
“I think now more than ever, we need spaces that make us feel connected and welcomed.
“That’s what Festuri is all about – celebrating our differences, sharing our stories and enjoying a day of music, laughter and connection with the whole community.
“Buderim Village Park is a beautiful, central location. Locals are known to turn up in droves with their picnic rugs and chairs, and we can’t wait to fill the space with music, dance and community spirit.”
Buses across the Sunshine Coast cost just 50c. Limited parking is available at Buderim Mountain Primary School.
