Construction has started on a new retail and lifestyle hub that promises convenience and connection in a booming area of the Sunshine Coast.

Mulberry Village is a $4 million precinct that is set to become a community-focused destination in the growing suburb of Nirimba within Stockland Aura.

The centre, on Mulberry Lane, will offer tenancies from 50sqm to 200sqm, with opportunities for businesses in beauty, healthcare, retail and professional services.

A dedicated hire space will also be available for workshops, fitness classes, community events and networking sessions.

Up to 60 local jobs are expected to be created during the build and more than 20 ongoing roles are anticipated once the centre opens.

Stockland development director Josh Sondergeld and Ford Bucket Company directors Sue Ford and Peter Ford break ground on the precinct.

Stockland development director Josh Sondergeld welcomed the start of work and highlighted the village’s role in supporting an community.

“Aura is already home to over 14,000 residents and is continuing to grow,” he said.

“As the community expands, so does the demand for convenience, lifestyle amenities and access to essential services. Mulberry Village has been thoughtfully designed to meet those evolving needs.”

Mulberry Village is being delivered by local husband-and-wife development team Peter and Sue Ford, directors of the Ford Bucket Company. The centre was designed by Sunshine Coast-based OGE Group Architects, with construction underway by SG Builder.

Mr Ford said he was “proud” to be involved.

“Aura is one of the fastest-growing communities on the eastern seaboard, and we saw an opportunity to create a vibrant, inclusive hub that brings together local businesses and services in one beautifully designed space,” he said.

Anchoring the centre will be Ford and Folk, a beauty and wellness collective co-founded by Aura residents and sisters, Sarah Milner and Aimee Ford.

The multi-use space is designed to support small business operators and meet the lifestyle needs of the Aura community, offering services ranging from hair and skin treatments to holistic healthcare.

Mulberry Village is set within a 2000sqm site, with about 500sqm of tenancy space. Construction is expected to be completed by April.

Aura is Australia’s largest masterplanned community. On completion, it is designed to have over 200 kilometres of walking paths and cycling veloways, connecting the community and encouraging residents to live active and healthy lifestyles.

There are plans for a Central Park, a 120-hectare regional park, 10 sporting grounds as well as parks and playgrounds within 400m walking distance of every home, linking residential areas to local employment precincts, schools, the city centre and local neighbourhood retail centres.
