The Sunshine Coast’s LifeFlight rescue helicopter crew has plucked injured seafarers from two bulk carriers.

A man with a serious hand injury was winched from a ship 13 nautical miles off Mooloolaba on Friday, two days after a man with a head injury was winched off a ship 10 nautical miles off Point Arkwright.

The former was aided by a LifeFlight rescue crewman and Queensland Ambulance Service critical care flight paramedic, who were lowered to the ship to assess him.

The man in his 40s was winched into the helicopter and flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

That rescue followed a mission on Wednesday, when the crew was tasked to a ship where a man had fallen and hit his head.
