A building company that’s been in business on the Coast for 40 years has announced the appointment of a youthful new managing director.

Alex Dwyer, 29, took over the reigns of family-owned Dwyer Quality Homes in May promising to enact a “bold, forward-thinking vision for the future”.

Mr Dwyer, who grew up immersed in the family business, said he had a deep respect for the company’s 40-year heritage.

“Becoming the leader of Dwyer Quality Homes is something I have wanted to do for a very long time, and I’ve been very fortunate to learn the ropes by working closely from the ground up in areas such as financial systems through to project management,” he said.

“Our former general manager Ben Murphy has done an incredible job over the past few years and I’m really pleased he is remaining on board as his knowledge and guidance is invaluable as we move forward.”

He began contributing to the business immediately after graduating from Year 12 and played a pivotal role in overhauling the company’s estimating and custom-developed pricing systems while introducing tech solutions.

Mr Dwyer believes his youth is one of his greatest strengths and, under his leadership, the company is poised to focus on innovation, streamlined processes and transparent customer relationships.

Since the company started in 1985, it has built 1948 homes across the Sunshine Coast, Gympie and South Brisbane.

“We love the relationships we’ve developed over the years and nothing pleases us more than building a quality home for a client and then building repeat homes as these clients look to upgrade,” Mr Dwyer said.

“Best of all, we’ve built a great reputation on being completely open about the process of building a home and the costs involved with no surprise hidden fees.

“Being transparent and personable is part of who we are and that’s something that will not change under my leadership.”
