A 78-year-old man has been charged following a serious crash at an intersection.

The Sunshine Coast Forensic Crash Unit charged the man after investigations into the crash at Beerwah on February 21.

Police were called to the crash involving a Toyota RAV4 and a Yamaha MT-03 at the intersection of Roys Road and Mawsons Road about 7.50pm.

A 22-year-old Coochin Creek man was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The 78-year-old, from Beerwah, has been charged with one count of careless driving causing grievous bodily harm.

He is due to appear in Caloundra Magistrates Court on May 29.
