A 49-year-old motorbike rider has died in a crash in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident, which occurred at Crohamhurst just after 5pm on Sunday.

A green Kawasaki motorcycle was travelling on Bretons Road, when it crashed into a gold Nissan Patrol.

The rider of the motorcycle, a Crohamhurst man, died at the scene.

A 22-year-old Peachester woman, the driver and sole occupant of the Nissan, was not injured.

Investigators are appealing to any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam vision to come forward
