EARLIER, 02/01: A woman has been taken to hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition after a significant crash on a busy road.

The Queensland Ambulance Service said paramedics attended a vehicle rollover at Buderim Avenue and Douglas Street at Mooloolaba at 9pm on Wednesday.

The woman, who was initially entrapped in the vehicle, was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a potentially life-threatening condition with limb and back injuries. She was in a serious condition on Thursday morning.

A male was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a stable condition with reported back injuries.

A police spokesperson detailed how the crash likely occurred.

“Initial information indicates around 8.55pm, a grey Isuzu D-Max had turned left from Alexandra Parade onto Buderim Avenue, when it crashed into a parked car before hitting a bus stop and rolling onto its side,” the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the 43-year-old Alexandra Headland woman was a passenger, while a 23-year-old Alexandra Headland man was the driver.

“Another passenger did not sustain physical injuries,” they said.

Investigations are ongoing.
