A well-known wholesale bakery has opened the doors to its first retail store and cafe, offering customers baked delicacies and a brunch-inspired menu.

Melody and Jamie Flood are the team behind the highly successful Ten Acres.

The company is known for supplying its traditional sourdough, handcrafted pastries and baked goods to retailers and restaurants across the region.

The artisan bakery also has a range of marmalade made from organic navel oranges and mandarins grown at the Ten Acres headquarters at Ninderry.

Meadow Bake Shop at Yandina is the first brick-and-mortar store for the Ten Acres team  and will offer its goods direct to customers.

Ms Flood told Sunshine Coast News the dream to have a retail space and face-to-face interaction with customers, plus a love of artisan baking, inspired the bakery decision.

Located on the corner of Farrell and Stevens streets, Ms Flood said she hoped to create a space where people could enjoy quality food and feel part of a community.

“The journey to open Meadow Bake Shop has been in the works for a few years,” she said.

“After we stopped doing markets during COVID, we missed having that face-to-face interaction with our customers.

“We dreamed of our own retail space, but it had to be in our own home town.

“We are fortunate that the beautiful historical building we’re in has such a unique charm and we can’t wait for people to experience our atmosphere while enjoying our baked goods.”

Ms Flood said the bakery would offer a range of sourdough and artisan breads, pastries and cakes, and fresh salads, plus an all-day bakery-inspired brunch menu.

“Customers at Meadow Bake Shop can expect to see a delicious selection of treats and baked goods,” she said.

“Some highlights include our flaky butter croissants, indulgent vanilla slices, rich Basque cheesecakes and a revolving selection of savoury pastries.

“Guests can dine in and enjoy our sunny courtyard, or take away their treats. And of course we will be serving up great coffee.

“We hope that Meadow Bake Shop will be a place where good food and community come together – your new favourite place to savour the simple pleasures, like coffee and croissants with friends.”

The Floods lodged relevant applications with Sunshine Coast Council last year, including for a shop extension and roofed deck at an existing building at 16 Farrell Street.
