A Sunshine Coast woman who initially thought she was receiving scam calls has had a pleasant surprise after finding out she’d won thousands in lottery money.

The Alexandra Headland resident held the first prize-winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10849 on Tuesday, winning $100,000.

The woman admitted she initially ignored phone calls from The Lott thinking they were scams.

It seems her wariness paid off and she finally spoke to officials, who were able to tell her the good news.

“Holy! That’s amazing,” she said.

“Thank you so much. I’ve never won anything like this.

“I thought you were trying to scam me at first! I saw I had some missed calls and things, but after I checked The Lott number it seemed legit so I called into the contact centre.

“I’m very glad it is real! Wow. I’m just in total shock.”

With $100,000 about to boost her bank account, the she said she couldn’t wait to start some much-needed kitchen upgrades.

“Funnily enough, I was just telling my husband yesterday we need a new stove,” she said.

“I’ve been cooking on this mini Kmart one for almost five years and we’ve always spoken about getting a new one.

“Now we can do more than just that. We can renovate the whole kitchen.”

Her winning entry of one random number was purchased on The Lott website.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $18.28 million for draw 1669, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $1.28 million for draw 10850. They are raffle-style games.
