Oriana presents Messiah
Acclaimed Sunshine Coast ensemble Oriana Choir will launch the festive season with a presentation of Handel’s beloved masterpiece Messiah, conducted by Andrew Wailes. Oriana patrons will remember Wailes from its acclaimed presentations of Mendelssohn’s Elijah and, more recently, Mozart’s Requiem and Gjeilo’s Sunrise Mass. Jim Cox has been painting and drawing all his life. His well-loved work features in Les Hall’s 2020 book The Magic of Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve. Rainforest Discovery Centre is thrilled to be hosting a new exhibition of his vibrant art. Cox uses any medium available but prefers acrylic, oil pastel or gouache, which allow an immediacy in expressing ideas and observations, and produce vibrant colours. His long passion for natural history and art practice often reflects a theme or a place. At times his frivolous titles or rendition hide a serious intent. Buderim 9
An event that challenges cyclists to tackle nine of Buderim’s hills in three hours is set to get spinning again – all for a very important cause. Not for the faint-hearted, the Buderim 9 Challenge will see cyclists test themselves as they attempt to ride 76km. The event is an exciting opportunity for seasoned riders to participate in either the Buderim 3, 6 or 9, or the Buderim Electric events.
