A $10 million community hub is set to built at one of the region’s newest over-50s developments.
The facility, which will boast an array of recreational and lifestyle features, is set to be completed by mid-next year at Ingenia Lifestyle Nature’s Edge, in Forest Glen.
Ingenia Communities and McNab Construction are partnering to deliver the state-of-the-art community hub.
It will feature a resort-style outdoor pool and spa, yoga and pilates space, gym and change rooms, sauna, hairdressing salon, shared kitchen, barbecue area, dining room, quiet retreat space and a social space anchored by a bar and balcony with uninterrupted rainforest views.
It’s designed to complement the facilities in the existing clubhouse’s leisure centre.
The venue will be part of a broader $100 million investment that Ingenia has planned for the Sunshine Coast, which will see a wide array of jobs open up for local trades and suppliers.
Ingenia Communities portfolio manager Nicole Jentz said Ingenia was committed to investing in the region.
“Ingenia makes it a priority to look locally to source the workforce to deliver our new builds and projects. Nature’s Edge’s new community hub will see great opportunities for local trades and suppliers,” she said.
“For this community hub alone, we are estimating there will be 70 workers needed onsite at peak construction times.
“We prefer to work with, and invest in, local trades and suppliers where we can. It’s something we are particularly proud of, and one of the many ways we feel that we can give back to the communities we build in.
“With Ingenia’s local pipeline of work expected to stretch through to at least 2028, this is an excellent opportunity for local tradies and those seeking work in the region, particularly during what is a challenging time for many business operators.
“The Nature’s Edge community hub is the latest project in what will be a further $100 million investment in the Sunshine Coast region over the next six-plus years.
“Building on the success of Nature’s Edge, Ingenia sees great potential in the Sunshine Coast corridor with plans progressed for a second Ingenia Lifestyle community in the Nambour area.
“We believe creating our communities will not only accommodate an increasing demographic of older Australians, but provide the kind of lifestyle and amenities that they desire – whether they are locals wanting to simplify or downsize, or new arrivals chasing the kind of lifestyle the Sunshine Coast offers.”
The final stage of homes is now selling within the community.
Sunshine Coast councillor Ted Hungerford said it was important for the Sunshine Coast to offer retirement living options for older residents.
“In our society, many older people can become isolated and lonely, but this kind of lifestyle-focused community naturally brings people together,” he said.
“It allows residents to benefit from an active social life.
“The new hub will further foster a sense of community, providing social amenity to the residents of Ingenia Lifestyle Nature’s Edge.”
