The family of a 65-year-old Hay Point man who was killed in a traffic crash at Federal last Friday have released a photo in the hope it will encourage more witnesses to come forward.

Terry Bishop was travelling north along the Bruce Highway in a silver 2012 Nissan Navara dual cab utility when it was involved in the traffic crash.

Mr Bishop and his passenger, a 25-year-old woman, died at the scene.

Mr Bishop’s family, who have requested privacy during this time, have released a statement as police continue to appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

“Terry Bishop is a 65-year-old retired resident of Hay Point (Mackay) in recent years and a former long-term resident of Northgate (Brisbane),” they said.

“Terry was travelling to Brisbane on Friday to attend a family member’s wedding the day following the incident.

“He leaves behind a wife, daughter, son and five young grandchildren who all loved him dearly.

“Our family is absolutely devastated, he is a man that would always go out of his way to help anyone in need.

“Our hearts go out to the other victim’s families and the first responders in this horrific tragedy.”
