Sunshine Coast MP Andrew Wallace has launched a petition calling for singer Taylor Swift to add a Queensland show to her 2024 Australian tour.

The Federal Member for Fisher, who says he is a “huge Swiftie”, is urging promoter Frontier Touring to extend the pop superstar’s Eras tour to the Sunshine State.

“As the dad of four daughters, I have spent many years driving my daughters around and listening to Taylor Swift and I’m an absolute convert,” he said.

“I was excited to hear that she is coming to Australia to do her tour in February next year, however that tour is limited to Melbourne and Sydney.”

Borrowing from the singer’s song titles, he said: “Taylor, I’m asking you, I’m begging you, I’m pleading with you, please come to Queensland! I Wish You Would! It would be The Best Day!

“No one would ever be able to develop Bad Blood between myself and Taylor Swift as I’m totally Enchanted by her talent,” he said.

Swift will perform two shows at the Melbourne Cricket Ground and three shows at Sydney’s Accor Stadium in February.

“Interestingly there is about a week in between her concerts and that is a perfect opportunity to come to Queensland, and in particular the Sunshine Coast,” said Mr Wallace, whose favourite Swift song is All Too Well.

“We have a terrific stadium on the Sunshine Coast, where Elton John performed on his Goodbye Yellow Brick Road tour. It’s a perfect opportunity – I haven’t checked with council yet but I’m sure we could sort something out.

“Also, if Taylor is looking to have a bit of a break, we can accommodate her on the Sunshine Coast – one of the best destinations in the world.”

Mr Wallace – who normally fronts the media to talk on matters such as national security, defence, infrastructure and mental health – said he is willing to seek leave if a Queensland concert fell on a parliamentary sitting day.
