Police are trying to track down the owner of a ‘gold metal bar’ found on the Sunshine Coast.

A Sunshine Coast Police alert on Thursday sought information regarding the object and included two photos.

“Police are seeking public assistance to locate the owner of a gold metal bar, found at Paynters Creek Road, Rosemount on 31 August 2026,” it stated.

“If you believe you are the owner of this property, please contact the Nambour Police Station on (07) 5459 0200 from 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

“If you have any information that may assist police in locating the owner, please call Policelink on 131 444 and quote reference number QP2601982240.”

Proof of ownership will be required on collection.

The bar bears markings identifying it as one ounce of 99.99 per cent pure gold, along with the branding of American precious metals retailer APMEX.

Police did not comment on the item’s authenticity or value, how it came into police possession, or whether anyone has made a claim.
