New clubhouses, leisure and wellness facilities are being rolled out across a trio of Sunshine Coast developments that are set to deliver almost 900 homes for over-50s.

Developer Stockland is investing more than $53 million at Halcyon Coves at Banya in Aura, Halcyon Dales at Beerwah and the recently-launched Halcyon Yandina at Yandina.

Almost half of that investment has been delivered in three months, with clubhouses opened at the first two.

A further $28 million is planned by late 2027, including a clubhouse and wellness facilities at Yandina, a leisure and wellness precinct at Coves and additional facilities at Dales.

Stockland project pirector Andrew Astorquia said the investment reflected how expectations of downsizing were changing.

“People may be downsizing their homes, but they don’t want to downsize their lives,” he said.

“For many, this stage of life is about having more time to focus on the things they enjoy, whether that’s staying active, travelling, pursuing a hobby or spending more time with friends and family.

“That’s reshaping what people look for in an over-50s community. Buyers aren’t just choosing a home; they’re choosing a lifestyle and a sense of connection. They want somewhere they can meet neighbours, join a club, enjoy shared facilities and be part of a community, all close to home.

“While Coves, Dales and Yandina each offer something different, they share a focus on creating vibrant, connected communities where homeowners can embrace the opportunities that come with their next chapter.”

Homeowners enjoy a game of pickleball at the over-50s community in Beerwah.
Homeowners enjoy a game of pickleball at the over-50s Halcyon Dales community in Beerwah.

Set at the foot of the Glass House Mountains, the newly opened Halcyon Dales clubhouse is the first two-storey clubhouse across Halcyon’s national portfolio.

Facilities include a 25m heated magnesium salt pool and spa, lawn bowls, two pickleball courts, a Gold Class-style cinema, gym and yoga studio, sauna and salon treatment room. Homeowners can also enjoy communal spaces including a bar, dance floor, library, games and craft rooms, community workshop, gardens and walking paths.

“Spanning almost 3000sqm, the clubhouse represents a major investment in lifestyle for all homeowners to enjoy,” Mr Astorquia said.

“The two-storey design has allowed us to bring a wide range of social, recreational and wellness facilities together in one central hub, while making the most of the spectacular outlook towards the Glass House Mountains.”

Halcyon Dales homeowner James Sutherland was among the 150 people who attended the opening and said the scale and quality of the clubhouse had been a major drawcard for him and his family.

“We’ve watched the clubhouse take shape over the past nine months, quite literally from our front door, so it was fantastic to finally step inside and see the finished result,” he said.

“For us, it is about much more than the facilities. We see the clubhouse becoming the heart of Halcyon Dales: a place to exercise, relax and socialise while enjoying that magnificent Glass House Mountains setting. We’re absolutely over the moon to see it open.”

At Halcyon Coves, the opening of the clubhouse known as ‘The Horizon’ marked the first stage of Stockland’s investment in shared facilities for the community’s 431 planned homes, with the remaining facilities to be delivered mid-2027.

“Since opening in July, The Horizon has already become a hub for morning coffees, social gatherings and community activities,” Mr Astorquia said.

“Coves has been designed as six connected neighbourhoods rather than one large residential enclave, with The Horizon providing a central place for homeowners to come together.”

Meanwhile, with its display village set to open next month, Halcyon Yandina is continuing to take shape, with Stockland progressing a clubhouse and wellness precinct expected to open in late 2027.

The Halcyon Yandina display village will open to the public on Saturday, October 24 from 9am to midday, giving prospective homeowners the opportunity to tour three display homes and learn more about the planned community and facilities.

Halcyon Coves is planned to comprise 431 homes, Halcyon Dales 212 homes and the currently approved stage of Halcyon Yandina up to 250 homes, totalling up to 893 homes.

The proposed second stage of Halcyon Yandina would add up to 268 homes, taking the community to as many as 518 homes and the three-community total to as many as 1161 homes, subject to approval.
