An alleged armed robbery of a vehicle has led to a police pursuit stretching from the Sunshine Coast to Ipswich.
Police allege that a man armed with a knife approached a 55-year-old man at a retail centre on David Low Way at Mount Coolum, before he allegedly demanded the victim’s vehicle keys and drove away in a red Honda HR-V on Sunday at about 6.20pm.
Police tracked the vehicle, with assistance from POLAIR, south from the Sunshine Coast into Brisbane and towards Ipswich.
Police deployed a tyre deflation device in Ebbw Vale at about 8.23pm, before the vehicle continued into Bundamba.
The vehicle was later abandoned on Naomi Street, where the driver, a 26-year-old man, allegedly fled on foot.
Police arrested the man a short distance away.
A 26-year-old Mount Coolum man was charged with one count each of armed robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He was remanded in custody and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court today, 6 October.
A 29-year-old Yarrabilba man, who was allegedly in the vehicle, was also arrested on Naomi Street. He was charged with one count of unlawful use of a motor vehicle. He was released on bail and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on 20 October.
