A rustic old house on the riverfront has fetched a premium price at auction.

No. 19 Harbour Parade at Buddina, which has had one owner for more than 40 years, was sold for $3.025m.

Ray White agent Adam Budd said it attracted plenty of attention due to its location.

“There was overwhelming interest in the property from locals, interstate buyers and developers all vying for a chance to secure a blue-chip holding,” he said.

Properties in the area are among the most tightly held in the region.

Ray White’s real estate listing stated that the neighbourhood was “one of the Sunshine Coast’s most sought-after enclaves”.

Mr Budd said there were only 32 properties along the stretch at Harbour Parade, and just five of those were sold during the past six years.

“The views of the Mooloolah River, proximity to the beach, canals and deepwater access are second to none,” he said.

“It is a pretty easy choice (for buyers) when opportunities like this come to the market.”

The Dubbo-based seller had the property for decades after acquiring it for $98,000 in 1981 but never lived in the house.

“Family and friends stayed in the lower level over the 40-plus years of ownership,” Mr Budd said.

Mr Budd revealed some of the new owners’ plans, indicating that the residence could be modernised.

“They will make some small improvements and enjoy the views and what the area offers while holidaying at the property,” he said.

The old home has four bedrooms, two bathrooms and three car spaces.

A 546sqm property down the road, at 14 Harbour Parade, was initially purchased for $386 in 1966 and, after staying in the same family for six generations, the land and its original home was sold for $3.3m.
