A long-running seawall reconstruction is nearing a major milestone, with key parts of the popular foreshore set to reopen ahead of the September school holidays.
Moffat Beach’s rock seawall is now complete, with only minor adjustment works and the construction access track still to be finished.
A Sunshine Coast Council spokesperson said: “Over the past few months, we’ve made significant progress on the Moffat Beach seawall reconstruction, navigated challenging weather and ocean conditions, and worked through some complex construction activities.”
Beach access stairs at 275 are complete and open to the public, while the eastern beach bar has also been completed.
“Check out the new eastern beach bar we’ve installed, enjoy the ocean vibes, grab a coffee, and support the local shops and cafes you know and love,” a spokesperson said.
Council said beach clean-up activities had begun, with temporary traffic controls potentially used in beach areas while machinery is operating.
The access track between the administration compound and storage yard is now open to the public, while council said the eastern car park would reopen in time for the September school holidays.
“We are working to complete the seawall reconstruction and progressively remove the majority of construction infrastructure so the foreshore can reopen by mid-October, weather and ocean conditions permitting,” a spokesperson said.

The project has also prompted changes to the western foreshore following community feedback and a detailed safety assessment.
Council has resolved to remove the existing fence at the western end of the seawall and replace it with a second concrete ground slab and a single-height sandstone wall designed to match the existing wall along the eastern section.
The western foreshore works are expected to begin after the September school holidays and take up to a month to complete, with a smaller construction footprint than the current seawall project.
Councillor Terry Landsberg said he was looking forward to seeing this project completed.
“It’s a significant piece of infrastructure in a highly visible location,” he said.
“Throughout construction, the team has worked through a range of challenges and gained valuable learnings along the way.”
Cr Landsberg thanked community members for their patience and understanding during the works.
“Moffat Beach is one of Caloundra’s most loved coastal destinations and I look forward to seeing locals and visitors enjoy it for many years to come,” he said.
