A man has been charged after allegedly looking into a bedroom window of a Sunshine Coast home before being detained by a neighbour.

Police told Sunshine Coast News they have charged a 30-year-old man following an alleged trespassing incident at Meridan Plains on Wednesday night.

Police were called to a home following reports of a prowler being detained by a neighbour after he had allegedly been peering into a bedroom window, at about 9.14pm.

The 30-year-old man has been charged with two counts of trespass and one count of observations in breach of privacy.

He is due to appear in Caloundra Magistrates Court on July 30.
