A serious traffic crash on the Sunshine Coast is under investigation after an e-bike rider was left with significant injuries.

Police said the incident occurred about 6.35pm on Thursday, along Nambour Connection Road at Kulangoor.

Initial investigations indicate an e-bike travelling north collided with a blue Ford Everest.

The rider, a 28-year-old Nambour man, sustained a significant leg injuries and was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital by Queensland Ambulance Service in a stable condition.

The driver of the Ford, a 47-year-old man from Rosemount, was not physically injured and is assisting police with their inquiries.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who has relevant CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward.
