Firefighters have contained a storage tank fire near the Bruce Highway, opposite Aussie World in Palmview.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said three crews attended the scene at around 2.10pm today after a storage tank caught fire, producing smoke in the area.

“The fire has now been fully extinguished, and the site was completely evacuated,” they said.

An Advice-level warning remains in place for the Palmview area as of 2.30pm, with smoke expected to linger for several hours.

Residents and commuters are being warned that roads may be closed or blocked by emergency services, and smoke could make it difficult for some people to breathe.

Authorities recommend anyone in the affected area stay indoors, close windows and doors, and keep respiratory medication close by.

People are also urged to avoid the area and not fly drones, as they can interfere with emergency operations.
