An ‘effortlessly cool’ espresso and brunch venue has opened at Caloundra’s Bianco Building, with local couple Ben and Kate Saultry behind the launch.

Bunker Espresso Caloundra has opened at 5/5 Tay St, trading daily from 6am to midday and serving speciality coffee alongside a curated brunch menu.

The Saultrys have owned Bunker Specialty Coffee Co for 10 years and are the distributor of Veneziano Coffee Roasters across the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay Burnett.

“We opened our first Bunker Espresso in 2022 at Sippy Downs as a place to offer coffee tastings for customers and barista training,” Ms Saultry said.

Plans for the Caloundra café began as soon as the couple saw designs for the Bianco development and spoke with developer RCQ.

“We knew there were lots of exciting things happening in Caloundra and we wanted to be a part of it,” Ms Saultry said.

“Bunker Espressos are light, bright and colourful and like nothing else on the Sunshine Coast. We wanted to stand out.”

The Bunker Espresso Caloundra design has been described as ‘effortlessly cool’.

With a background in fine dining as a qualified chef, Ben Saultry is taking brunch to the next level with a menu featuring apple crumble French toast, smoked salmon terrine and pork belly Rosti.

“We know that people can make coffee at home and cook up some bacon and eggs so if they are going to spend their hard-earned money with us it needs to be special. We need to offer something that delights,” Mr Saultry said.

The venue offers a rotating selection of blends and single-origin coffees for both black and milk-based drinks.

For December, the café is serving Veneziano’s Festive Blend, with plans to introduce coffee education events in the new year, including cupping sessions and barista competitions.

Their coffee roasting partner, Veneziano Coffee Roasters, is home to the newly crowned 2026 Australian Barista Champion Gabriel Tan.

The café has already built a strong local following, with customers describing it as “effortlessly cool”, and “different”.

“We have very quickly gained a great bunch of regulars who have made us feel right at home in Bulcock Beach and part of the community,” the owners said.

“We also love meeting all the new residents as they move into Bianco.”
