Work is underway on a significant upgrade to the dining precinct at Kawana Shoppingworld, with new retailers, refurbished eateries and improved public spaces scheduled to roll out ahead of Christmas.

The redevelopment follows the recent opening of a turtle-themed playground.

Kawana Shoppingworld centre manager Michelle Lucadou-Wells said the aim was to strengthen the precinct’s role as a community meeting place.

“We’re passionate about creating a place where the community can come together,” she said.

“Following the success of our playground that promotes turtle conservation, the current works will transform the precinct into a destination for families and friends to enjoy great food and good company.”

The new playground is already being enjoyed by families.

Food operators joining the precinct include Mediterranean-style Stavros Restaurant & Bar, which is preparing to open, and recently launched Thai venue 86 Bangkok.

Several existing eateries have completed refurbishments. Grill’d has reopened with a refreshed fit-out and Guzman y Gomez resumed trading on November 21 after finishing renovation works. Jango and On A Roll Sushi continue to operate during construction.

Ms Lucadou-Wells said more additions to the food line-up would be confirmed soon.

“We’re curating a diverse mix of dining experiences, whether you’re after a quick bite, a family feast, or a catch-up with friends,” she said.

“We can’t wait to share more about other new food retailers joining us and to see the community enjoy everything we have to offer.”

The project also includes new landscaping intended to make the area more shaded and inviting. The main elements of the precinct upgrade are expected to be completed ahead of the Christmas period.
