Passengers travelling through Sunshine Coast Airport can look forward to faster, smoother check-ins.
The airport on Thursday announced that Australian company, Elenium Automation, will supply cutting-edge technology as part of the terminal redevelopment.
The check-in will include 18 self-service kiosks and 10 automatic bag drops, streamlining the process for people passing through one of the country’s fastest-growing airports.
Airport CEO Chris Mills said the new system, to go live next year, will improve the passenger experience.
“We’re proud to deliver innovative technology designed and built right here in Australia,” he said.

“It reflects our commitment to improving the passenger experience while futureproofing the airport for continued growth.
“With millions of passengers expected through our terminal in the coming years, the introduction of self-service kiosks and automated bag drops will streamline check-in and reduce wait times.”
Trusted by more than 35 airports and 45 airlines globally, Elenium is helping to improve airport check-in times, reducing departure terminal congestion by up to 60 percent.
More than 1.7 billion passengers have used Elenium’s systems and technologies that deliver the self-service kiosks and automated bag drops, together with the Voyager application suite that enables airlines and airports to remotely configure, test and manage their kiosk and bag drop applications.

“We’re thrilled to bring our world class Australian-made technology to Sunshine Coast Airport,” Elenium co-founder and CEO Aaron Hornlimann said.
“Elenium specialises in passenger processing and we have a laser sharp focus on delivering solutions designed for speed, adaptability and autonomy.
“True self-service isn’t about making passengers do the work, it’s about creating technology that does the work for them.
“Sunshine Coast Airport will be making travel effortless by minimising queues, maximising efficiency and delivering a smoother experience for both passengers and staff. This partnership showcases how homegrown innovation can transform aviation on a global scale.”

The upgrade comes as Sunshine Coast Airport continues to expand its reach, connecting passengers to Adelaide, Auckland, Cairns, Melbourne and Sydney, with support from Air New Zealand, Alliance Airlines, Jetstar, Qantas and Virgin Australia.
With more than 80 flights a week to Sydney and Melbourne, the enhanced check-in experience is expected to help accommodate growing passenger numbers and provide millions of passengers with a more efficient check-in experience.
