A new dessert spot is serving up sweet vibes and premium gelato in the heart of a booming suburb.

Scoop House has opened its doors at Sippy Downs with a mission to create a place where locals can enjoy a moment of happiness.

Co-owner Navjot Singh, who co-owns the business with his uncle Darshan Kang as investor, said the business was about more than just dessert.

“I’ve always loved the idea of creating a space where people could stop by, have something sweet and just feel good for a few minutes,” Mr Singh said.

“I wanted to build something local and personal – a place that feels part of the community rather than just another franchise.

“Scoop House is all about experience – it’s not just about getting a scoop of gelato; it’s about the atmosphere, the look, the late-night vibe, and the way it makes people feel.”

Scoop House at Sippy Downs is open until 11pm most nights.

He said opening in Sippy Downs made “perfect sense”.

“It’s growing fast, has a young and energetic vibe with the uni and gym nearby, and it’s a spot where people love to hang out,” he said.

“It felt like the right place to start something fresh and fun.

“We’ve mixed modern design with a warm, local feel, added a bit of creativity with our flavours and toppings, and kept everything top-quality.”

While Mr Singh’s background isn’t purely hospitality, he said his experience in business, design and customer experience helped bring the project to life.

Scoop House serves premium gelato and sorbet sourced from Maleny Food Co, which is known for its small-batch, natural ingredients.

“Some of the standout favourites have been Kinder Surprise, Hazelnut Roche and Salted Caramel – they’re a hit every day,” Mr Singh said.

“Our Italian Marshmallow and White Choc and Raspberry also get a lot of love, especially from families and regulars who like trying something a little different each time.”

The shop’s design reflects its easygoing energy.

“We’ve got a clean aesthetic with warm lighting and neon accents, and we stay open late to give people somewhere to go after dinner or the gym,” he said.

“It’s relaxed, friendly and always welcoming.”

Mr Singh said the response from the Sippy Downs community had been “amazing” since opening.

“We’ve had great feedback not just on the gelato but the space itself. It’s becoming a little hangout spot, which is exactly what I wanted,” he said.

Along with gelato, Scoop House offers milkshakes, thickshakes and mix-in combos featuring M&Ms, Tim Tams and marshmallows. Seasonal specials and desserts are also on the way.

Mr Singh said getting the business up and running wasn’t without its hurdles.

“Definitely the fit-out and construction phase – managing trades, design approvals and staying on top of budgets while trying to get everything perfect – was a challenge,” he said.

“There were moments where it felt like everything was taking forever, but seeing it all come together made it worth it. The end result feels like something built with real care.”

He said the team was grateful for the strong local support and invited everyone to stop by.

“We’re still new but we’re growing fast and constantly trying to make the experience better,” he said.

“We’re always up for a good chat and some sweet vibes.”

Scoop House is at 123 Sippy Downs Drive, Sippy Downs. It is open from noon to 11pm Monday to Saturday, and noon to 10pm Sunday.
