Police are investigating a number of anti-social incidents during and after a rodeo at Imbil on the weekend.

Emergency services were called to a camping area at Imbil Showgrounds about 1am on Sunday following a reported assault.

A 19-year-old Coolum Beach man sustained head injuries and was transported to Gympie Hospital for treatment.

Investigators are appealing for anyone who has relevant vision or witnessed the assault to contact police.

In an unrelated incident, officers arrested and charged a 27-year-old Minyama man with serious assault police officer whilst pretending to be armed, following an altercation at the campgrounds about 1.10am.

He was remanded in custody and is due to face Gympie Magistrates Court on November 4.

Police are also investigating another assault reported to have occurred at the event about 10.30pm on Saturday.

As part of police operations at the event, seven move-on directions were issued and two males were issued with public nuisance offences.

Over the weekend police conducted more than 800 random breath tests and issued 48 traffic infringement notices, and eight drivers were charged with other traffic offences including drink-driving and unlicensed driving.

Imbil Sergeant Andrew White said police would not tolerate violence and anti-social behaviour.

“Police will be working with the relevant stakeholders including the event organisers and security providers in planning for any future events, with some changes expected to address the anti-social issues identified,” Sgt White said.

“Police want to ensure everyone can enjoy the event in a safe environment.”

The Facebook page for the 2025 Imbil Bull Bronc Barrels Buckle Series Final on September 27 said the event included a rodeo, markets, food, bar, live music, free kids zone and fireworks.

It was held at the Mary Valley State College Ovals on George Street and run by the Mary Valley State College P&C as its major fundraiser for the year.
